Phyllis Davis, age 92 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Phyllis Ann Larson was born on September 2, 1926, to parents Edwin V. and Hazel (Brown) Larson in Algona, IA. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith.  Phyllis grew up in Ayrshire, IA. She graduated with the Silver Lake Consolidated High School class of 1944.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Kenny Kundel. Kenny tragically passed away as result of an airplane accident. In July of 1968, Phyllis married Lester Davis at the United Methodist Church in Sac City. This marriage created a new blended family that consisted of five children: Judy Kay, Lisa, Neal, Carol, and Lee. Phyllis would unfortunately experience another devastating loss in May of 1971 when her daughter, Judy Kay, son-in-law Don, and granddaughter Amy were killed in a terrible car accident.

Phyllis worked at the local doctor’s office in Sac City until being hired at Citizen’s Bank. She was quite proud of holding the position of head Cashier for 31 years. She retired in 1998.

Throughout the years, Phyllis could be found on the golf course, at the bowling alley, sewing, or tending to her garden. She especially liked her rose bushes.  She enjoyed painting and golfing with her two close friends Joanne Albright and Jackie Harmon (both deceased).  She was very active in the community and volunteered her time serving on several boards including the Sac City Chamber, Wan-Tan-Ye, Sac City Recreation Center start up committee, Loring Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of the National Association of Banking Women and the Sac County Museum. She did not have a hard time keeping busy.

While she loved spending her time taking part in all of the above activities mentioned, these things didn’t come close to comparing to the time she was able to spend with her family. She truly cherished every moment spent with them.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Chad) Phillips of Kansas City, MO; stepchildren: Neal (Pam) Davis of McCall, ID, Carol (Bob) Rudd of Eugene, OR, and Lee (Kay) Davis of Billings, MT, and their families; grandchildren: Adriane and Ashley Fulcher, and Aaron and Austin Phillips; great grandchild Carter Phillips; brothers Gary (Marsha) Larson of Lake Crystal, MN, and Carl (Nancy) Larson of Prior Lake, MN; sisters Hazel (Kirby) Anderson of Montrose, CO, Sharon Crabb of Sac City, IA, and Virginia (Larry) Harman of Kingsley, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenny Kundel; second husband Lester Davis; daughter Judy Kay (Don) Stoffregen; granddaughter Amy Stoffregen; sister Shirley (Dick) Barnard; brother Dean (Vivian) Larson; and brother-in-law Lyle Crabb.
