Elayne Reiman, age 87, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Elayne Francis Mohr was born Feb. 16, 1931, to Carl and Colletta (Reidmiller) Mohr on their farm north of Early, IA. Elayne was baptized and confirmed her faith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early. She attended school and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Early. She furthered her education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake earning her teaching certificate.
On Aug. 25, 1951, Elayne married Vern Reiman at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bode, IA. They were blessed with two children: Patricia and Jim. Elayne was a very active farm wife. You could find her out helping Vern with the hog chores, especially tending to the farrowing house. While living in Carroll, she worked at the Carroll Herald Paper for 20 years as the part time collator and made a lot of friends while there. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities in school. She and Vern loved watching them play softball and basketball. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children: Pat (Kirk) Irwin of Chariton, IA, Jim Reiman (Norma Weitzel) of Sac City, IA, a special daughter Jolene Broich of Oregon; grandchildren: Clint Irwin of Chariton, IA, Nicole Reiman of Sac City, IA, Eric Reiman of Tucson, AZ, Melissa (Ryan) Vakulskas of Sioux City, IA, Jamie Weitzel of Sac City and Kara Wilkens-Reiman of Sac City; great-grandchildren: Kailey, Mickael, Madalyn, Kayden, Miya and Kyler; sister: Mary Margaret and Duane Wachter of Hinton, IA; brother-in-law: Vincent Katch of Des Moines, IA; many extended family members and a host of friends.
Elayne was preceded in death by her husband Vern, parents, brothers John and Kenneth, and sister Lois Katch.
