Marlys A. Snavely

Marlys SnavelyMarlys Ann Snavely, 72, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008, at Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake.  Marlys Ann Smith was born February 4, 1935, to James E. and Hattie (VanDenburg) Smith in Armstrong, Iowa.  She attended school in Estherville, Ware, and Pocahontas, Iowa, graduating in 1953.

She was united in marriage to Gene Kirchner from 1955 to 1984.  She later married Art Snavely and they were married from 1986-1994.
    
Marlys worked for the telephone company in Storm Lake, Mankato, and Phoenix, retiring in 1994.  She moved to Early, Iowa where she enjoyed working for the Methodist Church.  She lived in Storm Lake for the last years.
    
She enjoyed her hobbies of reading history and anything that was true, sewing and quilting, and her computer.
    
Survivors include her brother, Duane E. Smith of Fort Collins, Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Marlene (Keith) Thurman of Waverly, Iowa, and Mrs. Janet Heald of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mrs. Wilma Smith of Hardy, Arkansas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
    
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Ronald Smith and Byrl Smith.
    
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, January 8th, at the United Methodist Church in Early.  Burial will be at the Early Union Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
    
The visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the church, prior to the funeral service.
