Margaret A. Dean
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, February 6th, at the United Methodist Church in Sac City with Pastor Vicki Fisher officiating. Burial will be at Cory Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home in Sac City. Margaret was born April 20, 1916, in Carroll County, Iowa, to Thomas and Emma (Hinrichs) Ralph. She was baptized in the year 1916 at Carroll, Iowa. At age three, her family moved to a farm near Sac City. Elementary school was in Sac County, Iowa, and high school in Sac City, Iowa, graduating in 1932. She received her B.S. degree at Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa, in 1936, and received her M.Ed. Degree at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas in 1969. On June 15, 1936, Margaret was united in marriage to Harold Lee Dean at the Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames. They were blessed with two children: Harold R. and Annette, and raised their granddaughter Denise. They lived in Arkansas until 1941, and then moved to Fort Worth, Texas, until 2000 (spending retirement summers in Sac City). In 2000 they moved to Sac City to live all year round. She was self-employed in Fort Worth, operating a school for children with learning disabilities until retiring in 1994. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Fort Worth Council of Campfire Girls, and Fort Worth Association for Children With Learning Disabilities. Her hobbies included music, painting, and working with children. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: son Harold R. Dean and wife Nancy of Boone, IA; daughter Annette Steinfels and husband Richard of Fort Worth, TX; three grandchildren: Jerry Dean, Wendy (Rob) Fergusson, and Denise (Dennis) Werkmeister; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Hartzell Dean of Dallas, TX; and extended family members. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold Dean on October 24, 2004; an infant brother; sister Elva Arndt; and grandson Dennis McLaughlin. |
