Hubert A. “Bing” Mohr

Hubert A. “Bing” Mohr, 82, of Ord, Nebraska and formerly of Auburn, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord, Nebraska.

Hubert Albert Mohr was born December 30, 1925, to Elmer Peter and Elise “Lizzie” Ann (Schmidt) Mohr on the family farm northeast of Breda in Sac County, Iowa.  He attended country school at Sac #7 thru the 8th grade. He then graduated from Auburn Public High School at Auburn, Iowa, in 1943.

Hubert spent most of his life on the farm where he was born. After graduation he served for two years in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Guam while serving during World War II. After the service he returned to the family farm where he farmed until his retirement in 1987. He then moved to an acreage near Burwell, Nebraska. In July of 2002, he moved to the Parkview Village at Ord. In August of 2004 he suffered a light stroke and moved to Grandview Assisted Living. Since February of 2006, he has made his home at the Valley View Living Center in Ord.

He was a member of the American Legion and St. John’s Lutheran Church at Ord. He enjoyed trains and single cylinder engines.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Ruth Mohr of Ord and Wayne and Ruth Mohr of Sac City, Iowa; a sister, Verna Perry of Dolliver, Iowa, and a sister-in-law, Marj Mohr of Odebolt, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wilbert; a sister Edna Buse; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Perry and Donald Buse.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 29th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with Pastor James Travis officiating.  Burial will be at Luckow Cemetery in Auburn under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.
