Gregory L. Longman
Gregory Lynn Longman, 55, the son of Forest (Bud) and Malinda (Vogel) Longman, was born March 26, 1952 and raised in Sac City, Iowa. He graduated from Sac City High School and attended college at the University of Northern Iowa. He started his career at Otto Engineering in Sac City working on the survey crew and finished his career as a soils technician for Terracon Consultants in Storm Lake.
Greg was united in marriage to Marilyn Dowling in Sac City on October 18, 1975. To this union one child was born. They later divorced but still remained close friends and loving parents to Darin.
Greg enjoyed canoeing, golfing, and muscle cars, especially his beloved red Corvette Stingray. He also enjoyed playing cards and poker. Greg was very proud to be able to attend Darin’s graduation ceremonies from Iowa State University this past May.
After several years of medical problems, Greg passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. He is survived by his son Darin; mother Malinda; brother Lance and wife Deb; and their children: Kara and husband Scott, Lucas and wife Dette, Jeff, and Douglas and fiancé Mollie; ex-wife Marilyn; and other family members.
Greg was preceded in death by his father Forest Longman and his nephew Tim Longman.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 9th, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City with Rev. Andrew Ratcliffe officiating. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8th at the funeral home in Sac City.
