Grace Koenck Gerdes, age 99, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, Iowa.
Grace was born February 18, 1908, at Lake View, Iowa, to Henry and Kate (Peters) Kluver. She was baptized and confirmed in the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon, Iowa, and attended country school.
She was married to Leonard Thomas Koenck of Boyer, Iowa, on October 12, 1927. Three children were born to this union: Muriel, Leonard, and Donna. Leonard passed away January 12, 1966.
On May 21, 1970, Grace was married to Fike Gerdes, he passed away November 9, 1988.
Her hobbies were crafts, crocheting, playing cards, reading, and going to the nursing home to visit friends and relatives. She was a member of the Town and Country Club since 1941, member of the B.C.N.U. Club, The Wednesday Pinochle Club; Jolly Pitch Club, and member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wall Lake.
Survivors include her children: Muriel Bussman Evans and husband Elzy, Leonard Koenck, and Donna Olerich and husband LeRoy; step son Rev. Everett Gerdes and wife Beverly; step daughter-in-law Ruth Gerdes; 12 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Mavis Kluver; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard Koenck and Fike Gerdes; her parents Henry and Kate Kluver; son-in-law Dr. John Bussman; stepson Edward Gerdes; three sisters: Anne, Mrs. Carl Shrader; Alberta, Mrs. Armold Tucker; and Klaska Bollman; three brothers: Alvin, Bernard, and Henry Kluver; and granddaughter Rebecca Durratt.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 15th at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wall Lake. There will be no visitation.
