Freda Wilson, age 94, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on January 8, 2008, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Freda was born on November 14, 1913, on the family farm near Lake View, the daughter of Gerd W. and Kate (Krenzien) Poen. She attended country school through the eighth grade.
On February 24, 1940, Freda was united in marriage to James L. Wilson. They made their home on a farm near Lake View. This union was blessed with four children: Garland, Linda, Mark, and Steve.
Freda was a devoted wife and loving mother, and grandmother, who worked hard to provide a comfortable home for her family. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, picking green beans, and was a great cook, making many family favorites when they came to visit. She created many beautiful things for her home and family with her quilting, crocheting, and sewing projects. In 1976, Freda and James moved to Lake View from their farm northwest of town. She was a friend of Lakes United Methodist Church of Lake View.
Survivors include her children: Garland Wilson and wife Judy of Lake View; Linda Butler and husband Robert of Tucson, AZ; Mark Wilson of Lake View; and Steve Wilson and wife Sherrie of Lake View; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents; husband James on October 8, 1997; brothers: William, Alvin, and Ezra; sisters: Frances, Jennie, Bena, and Mathilda in infancy; grandson Nathan Butler; and daughter-in-law Karen Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 12th, at Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View, with Reverend Mary Shultz officiating. Burial will be at the Ferguson Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 11th at the funeral home in Lake View.
