Warren J. Herrig

Warren John Herrig, 77, passed peacefully at his home in Fort Worth, Texas, in the company of his family Wednesday, December 19, 2007 while under the care of Community Hospice.
    
Warren was born on December 1, 1930 in Wall Lake, Iowa, the son of John and Christina (Wunschel) Herrig. He attended Wentworth Military Academy from 1950 – 1952.  In June 1952, he married LaVon Helen Vogel at Peace Lutheran Church, Wall Lake, IA. He then graduated from Drake University with a BS in Business. Warren entered the  U.S. Air Force in 1954 through the college ROTC program. He served several international tours of duty as a SAC B-52 pilot during his 26 years of service.  After retirement as a Lt Col from the Air Force in 1980, he served as a District Representative for Aid Association for Lutherans for 12 years in the local area.
    
Warren will be missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend of all who knew him.
    
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, LaVon (Vogel) Herrig, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Veronika Herrig of Whitehouse, Texas; son, Jeff Herrig and Kathleen Vestevich of San Diego, California; and daughter and son-in-law Kim and Mike Nemunaitis of Shelby, North Carolina. Grandchildren: Andrew, Stephanie and Daniel Herrig, Christina (Cameron) Burgess and Joshua (Lauren) Chastant; Erica and Nicholas Nemunaitis and great-grandchildren: Cason Burgess and Carter Chastant.
    
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orville Herrig; and sister, Berenice Mack.
     
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake with Pastor Roger Carlisle officiating.

Burial  will be in  the Wall Lake Cemetery Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. at the church prior to funeral services.
    
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Peace Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
