Ted Fethkenher Ted
Fethkenher, age 60, died Thursday, July 12, 2007 in Mesa, Arizona.
He had suffered for many years with cancer.Ted was born on June 4, 1947, in Sac City, Iowa, to Walter Roy and Elizabeth Jean (Lake) Fethkenher. After attending his formal schooling, he served in the U. S. Army from 1965-1968, including one year in Viet Nam. He left the service as a Staff Sergeant with 21 awards and decorations. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1975, from Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa and his MBA in 1978 from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, South Dakota. He was also a nurse. Before his retirement, he taught business and medical subjects at the Arizona Institute of Business and Technology in Mesa, Arizona. From 1998-2000, he was the publisher and editor of an international newsletter for the descendants of immigrants from the former Baltic duchy of Pommern, Die Pommerschen Leute (The Pommern People). His genealogy works were written under the German spelling of his name, Fetkenheuer. Also, he was a research specialist with the Federation of Eastern European Family Histories and Societies. His work involved the transcript and subsequent posting of tens of thousands of German surnames and locations on the Internet. Ted was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to mourn, Marilyn Fethkenher, Mesa Arizona; his children, Emily Barton, Portland, Oregon; James Fethkenher, Mesa, Arizona, Anndra Ross, Gilbert, Arizona; and Rhianna Gullick, Mesa, Arizona; his brothers, John, Birmingham, Alabama; Don, Flagstaff, Arizona; Larry, Omaha, Nebraska; David, Surprise, Arizona, and Mike, Forney, Texas, as well as other relatives and friends. Services will be conducted by Rev. Mark Lake, cousin of the deceased, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 18th, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Burial will be at Salem German Methodist Church Cemetery in Varina, Iowa. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17th, at the funeral home. |
