Morris J. Stout

Morris J. Stout, age 76, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Morris James Stout, the son of Glen and Lola (Stanzel) Stout, was born on August 13, 1931 in Wall Lake Township, Sac County, Iowa. At the age of three, his parents moved to a farm in Boyer Valley Township. He attended the Early Consolidated School in Early and graduated in 1949.

He worked with his father and area farmers until he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952. He served his country in Camp Pendleton, CA at the Marine Corps Supply Depot, Ordinance Division, earning the National Defense Medal. In 1954 he received his honorable discharge as a Corporal.

He worked for Hanson Silo Co. in Lake View and the Lytton Creamery as a milk dryer operator until he started farming in 1958. Farming was his life’s career. He loved working the soil and raising livestock. He was a full time farmer until his death.

On October 30, 1955, Morris was united in marriage to Marvel Venzke at the Methodist Church in Wall Lake. To this union three children were born, Michael, Sherry and Donna.

Morris loved gardening; growing melons, strawberries and sweet corn were his specialties. He was a rock hound, loved fishing for bullheads, attending farm auctions, making fudge, writing poems, and whistling.

He especially enjoyed family; camping and hiking with them in the mountains, cheering on the grandkids at their sporting events, arm wrestling, cussing the Democrats and the DNR.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sac City, was especially proud to be a member of the Farm Bureau and was a true-grit American.

He is survived by his wife Marvel, his children, Michael (Martha) Stout of Coon Rapids, Sherry (Don) Gebers of Holstein, and Donna (Kevin) Sundene of Aurelia; six grandchildren, Adam Stout, Martha (Scott) Sibbel, Megan Stout, Don Gebers, III, Noah and Sarah Sundene; great grandchildren, Anthony and Martha Elizabeth Sibbel; brothers, Merle (Lois) of Rockwell City, Dewey (Cricket) of Nemaha, and Perry (Mary) of Alta; sister-in-law, Marjorie Johnson of Sac City; many nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers, Wayne and Delford; parents-in-law, Clem and Ida Venzke; and brother-in-law, Gordon Johnson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 16, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Sac City will Pastor Vicki Fisher, officiating. Burrial will be in the Wall Lake Cemetery.
