Mildred I. Peyton

Mildred I. Peyton, age 88, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2007, at her home in Sac City.
    
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12th, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City with Pastor Andrew Ratcliffe officiating.  Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
    
Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 11th at the funeral home in Sac City.
    
Mildred Irene Willert was born on May 3, 1919, in Viola Township, Sac County, Iowa, (the same day that Grant City was blown away) the daughter of Fred H. and Elsebeth (Mohr) Willert.  She attended school through eighth grade in Sac County and then stayed home to help her family after her mother’s death.
    
On September 10, 1941, Mildred was united in marriage to Paul L. Peyton in San Diego, California.  This union was blessed with two sons: Larry and Charles.  Before her marriage she worked as a waitress, ran a detasseling crew, and worked for the canning factory in Sac City. 
    
Mildred was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.  She adored her family and cherished spending time with them.  She crocheted many beautiful afghans for her family; did hair for older ladies; and sewed buttonholes for many ladies.  Her amazing chocolate chip cookies will be missed.  She loved playing cards, games, and spending time with her family.
    
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 66 years, Paul L. Peyton of Sac City; her sons: Larry Peyton and wife Vicki of Sac City and Charles Peyton and wife Donna of Rockwell City; six grandchildren: Jodi (Steve) Miller, Traci (Jim) Miller, Jay (Renae) Peyton, Karen Peyton, Kelli Peyton, and Chris Peyton; three step grandchildren: Chad (Jennifer) Coon, Rebecca (Dan) Slater, and Tyler Coon; nine great-grandchildren: Tony, Andy, and Alex Quail, Peyton Miller, Cameron, Courtney and Carver Miller, and Eli and Riley Peyton; eight step great-grandchildren: Caitlyn, Megan, Lauren, Thomas, and Nicholas Coon, Connor, Michael and Carter Slater; and two great-great granddaughters: Marissa and Hayleigh Quail.  Other survivors include her brother-in-law Everett Delp of Storm Lake and sister-in-law Anne Willert of Sac City, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
     
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Clarence and Harvey Willert; sister Luella Bailey; and daughter-in-law Donna L. Peyton.
