Murlin John Garrels, age 80, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View. Murlin was born on April 11, 1927, in Coon Valley Township, Sac County, Iowa. He was the son of John and Ethel (Evans) Garrels of Lake View. Uncle Murlin loved spending time with his family and friends and going fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Willard and Lawrence Garrels. Murlin is survived by his brother Clarence Garrels and his wife Shirley of Lebanon, Oregon; a niece, Beverly Miller of Albany, Oregon; nephew, Larry Garrels of Hereford, Oregon; and many great nieces and nephews in Oregon. Other survivors include two cousins, Josephine Manthe of Lake View, Iowa and Patricia Johnson of Leesburg, Florida.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19th, at the Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View, with Rev. Jess Thomason officiating. The Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View is in charge of arrangements. There is no visitation.
