Louise Schulte

Mary Louise Gaskell Schulte was born on March 8, 1913, in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Harriett (Wolfe) Gaskell. The family moved to Des Moines when Louise was a young child. She attended Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1931. She continued her education at Grinnell College and Drake University where she met John Schulte. On October 28, 1933, Louise and John were married. This union was blessed with six children: Mike, Barbara, Charles, Frank, Mary Ann, and Jane. They made their home in Sac City where John began his law practice and Louise took care of their growing family.

Louise was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters and also a member of the D. A. R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved and cherished her family. Louise was an avid reader, enjoyed putting puzzles together, working on crossword puzzles, and playing cards with the Delta Deck Bridge Club, but more than anything she loved the time spent with family.
