Jean A. Peters
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20th, at 2:00 p.m., at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church near Breda, Iowa, with burial at the Wheatland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 19th at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View, Iowa, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Jean was born July 4, 1953, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll to Leonard and Norma (Huisenga) Peters. She attended Wall Lake School through the eighth grade and then Carroll High School where she graduated in 1971. She graduated from AIB College of Business and began her 35-year career with Farm Bureau Insurance. She was a faithful lifetime member of the Wheatland Presbyterian Church. Jean enjoyed time spent with family, especially the nieces and nephews. She attended the kids ballgames, whatever sport it may have been; was an avid Drake basketball fan, having attended men’s and women’s games for over 30 years; and attended all sessions of the Iowa High School Girls State Tournaments for many years. She also volunteered for the Special Olympics for many years. She is survived by her father, Leonard of Breda; two sisters: Elaine (Carl) Berry of West Des Moines, Iowa, Karen (Mike) Petersen of Urbandale, Iowa; two brothers: Mark (Kristi) Peters of Breda, Iowa, and John Peters of Urbandale, Iowa; four nieces and nephews: Maddi and Karli Peters of Breda, and Brad and Colin Peters of Urbandale. She is also survived by step nieces and nephews: Stephanie (John) Reinhardt of Clive and their children Abby and Gabe, Mike Berry of San Diego, California, and Carey Petersen of Iowa City, Iowa. Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Peters along with her grandparents, John and Esther Huisenga and Herman and Tollie Peters. Memorials in Jean’s name will be directed to The John Stoddard Cancer Center, Wheatland Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their thanks for the excellent care received from the staff of Powell 3 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. |
