Alice Irene Schultz, age 97, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2007, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 28th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Thursday.

Irene was born on September 17, 1909, in Early, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick William and Ferol Mae (Hirons) Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Early High School in 1927. On February 23, 1932, Irene was united in marriage to Herbert C. Schultz at the home of the Lutheran pastor, Reverend Schwitters, of Wall Lake. Two daughters were born to this union, Carole and Donna.

On June 27, 1937, Irene was confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View where she remained a lifetime member.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed going to her clubs, quilting at church, and Ladies Aid. She especially liked the Kitchen Band the Ladies Aid had and dancing with her mop or doll. She enjoyed cooking and made great bars and rhubarb preserves. When she was able she enjoyed walking and visiting with her neighbors.

Survivors include her daughter, Carole Hanke and husband Robert of Lake View; her sister, Vivian Wiedemeier of Marcus, Iowa; three grandsons: Rick Nelson of Lake View, Joe Johnson and Jason Johnson of Nevada; three step-grandchildren: Jodi Brady, Jeff Hanke, and Scott Hanke; six step great-grandchildren: Jessica Hanke, Brooke Hanke, Paige Hanke, Joshua Hanke, Jayne Brady, and Jill Brady; and extended family members.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughter Donna Johnson in 2004.
