Frieda H. Kirkhart
Frieda H. Kirkhart, age 92, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 2nd, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake View with burial at Ferguson Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, October 1st, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.
Frieda was born on May 20, 1915, on a farm north of Carnarvon, the daughter of Wirt and Johanna (Druivenga) Auen. She was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Carnarvon. Frieda attended country school through the eighth grade, and then stayed home to care for her parents.
In 1936, Frieda was united in marriage to Elmer Kies. Elmer died in August of 1941. She later married Lee Kirkhart on October 11, 1949. Lee passed away in 1999. Before her second marriage she worked as a nanny for the Kettering family.
Frieda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Always caring for her children and grandchildren, creating a loving and comfortable home for them to come home to. She dearly loved her visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always had a special treat for them. They will cherish their many happy memories of their visits and her banana bread, which was the best! She also enjoyed going fishing, golfing, and traveling.
Frieda was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake View and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children: Arlen (Kies) Kirkhart and wife Donna of Manson, Iowa, Marsha Phillips and husband Norman of Lake View, Iowa, and Tom Kirkhart and wife Pam of Nevada, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Dawn (Ron), Dustin (Rya), Scott, Jason (Cindy), Leslie (Mark), Samantha (Tim), Andrew, Joseph, and Kara; three step grandchildren: Debra, Lori, and Donald; 14 great-grandchildren: Nathan, Anna, Ethan, Allie, Owen, Mackenzie, Sydney, Taggart, Addison, Connor, Lexi, Ella, Quintin, and Karter; and seven step great-grandchildren. Other survivors include sisters-in-law: Evelyn Auen, Dixie Metcalf, Martina Weeter, Catherine Buck, and Joann Kirkhart, along with many extended family members.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Elmer and Lee; two sisters: Christina Hulsebus and Minnie Meyer; and her brothers Henry and John Auen.
