Edith Potts

Edith Isabella Potts, age 93, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2007, at Park View Care Center in Sac City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, June 28th at the First Christian Church in Sac City with Rev. Sharla Hulsey officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Condolenses may be sent via email to: www.farberotteman.com. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27th at the funeral home in Sac City.

Edith was born on May 24, 1914, in Algona, Iowa, the daughter of Peter J. and Agnes (Thomson) Sandberg. She attended Carroll Grade School and graduated from Glidden High School in 1932. She taught country school in Carroll County for four years prior to her marriage on June 1, 1939, to Loyd N. Potts at her parents’ home in Glidden. They farmed in Calhoun and Sac County before moving into Sac City in 1961. She started working for the Sac Sun Company, Inc., in 1959, retiring in 1984. Loyd passed away May 12, 1977.

Edith was a member of the First Christian Church in Sac City and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed doing craft work and crocheting and was a member of the Hobby Club, Royal Neighbors, and Christian Women’s Club.

She was a loyal and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Spending time with her family was her greatest treasure. Edith is survived by her children: Edna Crandall and husband Kenneth of Grinnell, Iowa; Elaine Jordan and husband Clarence of Livingston, Texas; June Blakesslee and husband Tom of Apache Junction, Arizona; and Vernon Potts and wife Cheri of Puyallup, Washington; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and extended family members.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband Loyd; granddaughter Traci Blakesslee; brother Paul Sandberg; and sister Gertrude Christiansen.
