Diane J. Cook

Diane J. Cook, age 53, of Auburn, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2007, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 10th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn with Father Larry McCarty officiating. Burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Auburn under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a vigil service at 7:00, Sunday, September 9th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.

Diane was born on October 31, 1953, at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, the daughter of Edwin and Joleen (Clapper) Bachman. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from St. Bernard’s Catholic High School in Breda, Iowa, in 1971. She continued her schooling at the Commercial Extension School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska.

On May 26, 1973, Diane was united in marriage to Scott R. Cook at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn where she remained a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Parish.

Diane was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping, talking with her friends, and traveling, especially being at the beach. She loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

She worked as a legal secretary for 33 years at Eich Law Firm in Wall Lake and Carroll, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Scott; her mother, Joleen Bachman of Early, Iowa; and her father, Ed Bachman of Carroll, Iowa; six brothers: Lane Bachman of Lake City, Iowa, Brett Bachman of Sac City, Iowa, Todd (Miriam) Bachman of Sac City, Iowa, Scott (Claudine) Bachman of Maiden, North Carolina, Colin (Carolyn) Bachman of Homestead, Florida, and Tony Bachman of Vero Beach, Florida; two sisters: Pam Visedo of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Cynthia Bachman Fort of Storm Lake, Iowa. Other survivors include her brothers-in-law: Bruce (Sandra) Cook and Jerry (Karen) Cook both of Urbandale, Iowa, her nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many friends.

Diane was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Bunny Clapper, and paternal grandparents, Tony and Lena Bachman.
