Betty A. Johnson
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be at the Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 23rd. On January 4, 1943, Betty was united in marriage to Marvin Francis Johnson at Coeur D Alene, Idaho. They made their home in Lake View where they raised their five children: Francis, Alan, Karen, Marlin, and Michael. Betty worked as a waitress at the A&W Drive Inn, Tjaden’s Café, and as a custodian at the school in Lake View for 13 years. She was a volunteer at Black Hawk Life Care Center and Twilight Acres. On April 24, 1950, Betty was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Delaware, Iowa. She was as active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View, serving as President of the LWML, Ladies Aid, and Dorcus Society. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and took tapes (sermon) to the shut ins. She enjoyed crocheting wash clothes and hangers for everyone. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She cherished her family and loved spending time with them. Survivors include her children: Alan R. Johnson and wife Mavis of Deloit, IA; Karen A. Fields and husband Kirby of Greenville, IA; Marlin L. Johnson and wife Candi of Lake View, IA; and Michael P. Johnson and wife Debbie of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren: Lance Fields, Jennifer (Douglas) Otto, Jesse Fields, Wendy (Jeremy) Brown, Steven Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Tara (Jon) McDonald, Mitchell Johnson and Mandi Johnson; and great-grandchildren: Dallas Beek, Graham Fields, Abby Otto, and Parker McDonald. Other survivors include her two sisters: Joan (David) Blair of Sioux City, IA, and Marilyn Schutt of Gary, NE; and her two brothers: Vernon “Buster” Good of Neligh, NE, and William “Bill” (Rowena) Good of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and many extended family members. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Violet Good; husband Marvin F. Johnson; and son Francis M. Johnson. |
