Virginia Mae Swanson Gutierrez, age 83, of Lake View, Iowa, formerly of Mt. Prospect, Illinois, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City on Wednesday, October 4, 2006.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View with Reverend Rick Johnson officiating. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois.

There will be no visitation.

Virginia was born May 21, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Almquist) Gibbs. She lived in Chicago where she raised her daughter and three sons. She was a member of St. Emily’s Catholic Church of Mt. Prospect, Illinois.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula Siplon and husband Gerald of Lake View; her three sons: Tom Swanson and wife Annino of Lake View, Michael Swanson of Chicago, and Terry Swanson of Lake View; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews; and extended family members.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Russell Swanson and Paul Gutierrez; two sisters; and niece Claudia Rooney.

Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View is in charge of arrangements.
