Ruth Pranger

Ruth Elizabeth Moore Pranger, 83, of Nemaha, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, October 23rd, at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha with Rev. Carl Benge officiating. Burial will be at the Nemaha Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22nd, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Ruth was born on July 7, 1923, in Scranton, Iowa the daughter of Daniel and Rose Witter. She attended country school near Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1940.

She was united in marriage to Earnest F. Moore in 1942 and moved to Nemaha in 1949. Seven children were born to this union: Floyd, Kenneth, Kay, Elizabeth, Melvin, Gary and Ronald. Earnest passed away in June of 1965. Ruth then married James M. Pranger in 1966 in Dakota City, Nebraska. They continued to make their home in Nemaha.

Ruth was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and collecting salt and peppershakers. Her family will cherish their memories of fishing and camping together. Besides taking care of her family, Ruth cleaned houses for others and was a maid at the Palace Motel in Storm Lake for 12 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nemaha.

Survivors include her husband, James Pranger of Nemaha; her children: Floyd Moore and wife Beverly of Wellington, Kansas, Kenneth Moore of San Diego, California, Kay Pedersen and husband Donald of Quimby, Iowa, Elizabeth Ann Langner and husband Richard of Schaller, Iowa, Melvin Moore and wife Peggy of Blairsburg, Iowa, and Ronald Moore also of Blairsburg; and step-daughter Colleen Hansen and husband Ryan of Schaller, Iowa. Other survivors include her 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; two sisters: Lois Macke of Le Mesa, California and Helen Wright and husband Dean of Downey, California; many extended family members; and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earnest Moore; son Gary Moore; and two brothers: John Witter and an infant brother.
