Randall Glen “Randy” Barlow

Randall Glen “Randy” Barlow, age 61, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2006, at Fort Dodge Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 10th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City with Gary Witte officiating.  Burial will be at Corey Grove Cemetery with presentation of the flag by the V.F.W. Post No. 590 and American Legion Post No. 195 of Sac City.

Family and friends may call at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9th where the family will be present.

Randy was born in Sac City, the son of Jasper L. and Billie E. (Gibson) Barlow, on May 16, 1945.  He was baptized in the Baptist Church and attended Sac City Public Schools through the 10th grade.  He received his G.E.D. through Buena Vista and Iowa Central Community College.

On July 17, 1963, Randy was inducted into the U. S. Navy serving his country during the Vietnam conflict.  He was honorably discharged on March 23, 1967, earning the rank of SM5N and received the Vietnam Service Medal.

Over the years he managed fabric shops, was as a truck driver and worked on road construction, retiring in 1996 due to an accident.  Randy enjoyed life to the fullest.  He was always interested in daily news events, visiting with people, playing cards, fishing, hunting, taking care of his tomato plants, and helping with the fall harvest.  He especially loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his mother, Billie E. Barlow of Lake View, IA; his sons: Cory (Melissa) Hensen, and Justin Barlow and his special friend Molly Ringgenberg; his daughters: Kristie (Jason) Langford, Nicci Timmerman, and Mercedes Barlow; four grandchildren: Shelby and Dakota Langford, Justin Rohlfing, and Corynne Hensen;  two sisters: Sonya (Gordon) Waller of Fort Dodge, IA, and Deanna Harris of Lincoln, NE; and their families: Mike (Triny) Waller, Troy (Michelle) Waller, and Janelle (Mark) Becker and their daughters Kylie and Quinn; and Nora Coleman; extended family members, and many friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jasper L. Barlow and brother-in-law John Harris.
