Olga Benora Hatland Rosemeyer

Olga Benora Hatland Rosemeyer was born at home in Crawford County, Wisconsin, on July 30, 1928, the daughter of Alick and Cora Ortune Hatland.  She was educated in the county schools of the rolling hills of Crawford County Wisconsin.  Olga worked mostly as a caretaker for children, some in Chicago and around Wisconsin.

She married Jack Leland Rosemeyer on April 4, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa in a double wedding along with her life long friends, Jim and Darlene Nutter.  To this union four children were born: Norine, Valerie, Bradley, and Jewelene.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, caring for her family and providing a loving and comfortable home.

As a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Arthur, Iowa, she was active in the Christian Women’s Group and Dorcas Circle. 

Olga passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2006, at Eventide Lutheran Home for the Aged in Denison, Iowa.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Alick and Cora Hatland, a sister Berniece Stone and an infant brother.

Survivors include her husband Jack of Odebolt, Iowa; children: Norine Black and husband Duane of Ames, Iowa; Valerie Beverland of Omaha, Nebraska; Bradley Rosemeyer and wife Kristy of Odebolt, Iowa; and Jewelene Rosemeyer and friend Donald Gronemeyer of Odebolt, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Ward Black, Chad Black, Jasmine Rosemeyer, Shawna Rosemeyer Chiasson, Priscilla Beverland, Leah Carlson, Brianna Carlson, and Royce Rosemeyer; three great-grandchildren: Madison Black, Hannah Rosemeyer, and Olivia Chiasson.  Other survivors include her sisters, Margaret Galvin of Chicago, Illinois, and Selena Kvammee of Gays Mills, Wisconsin; brother Carold Hatland and wife Rose of Campbellsport, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; extended family members; and a host of friends.

Olga could make a friend anywhere, she loved to write letters, and visit people.  She was always thinking of others, loved her family, and would always say, “As long as you all get along.”

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 25th, at the Evangelical Free Church in Arthur, Iowa, with Pastor Norman Erickson officiating.  Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 24th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.
