Norma Peters
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church near Breda with burial at the Wheatland Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Norma was born February 2, 1931 on the family farm northwest of Breda, to John and Esther (Kies) Huisenga. She was baptized May 3, 1931 and confirmed March 16, 1945 at Wheatland Presbyterian Church. She attended country school, rural Breda, and graduated from Lake View High School in 1949. Norma was united in marriage to Leonard Wayne Peters September 28, 1950 at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church. She was a faithful lifetime member of the Wheatland Presbyterian Church serving as church treasurer, usher, and president and vice president of the Presbyterian Women’s group. Norma enjoyed time spent with family, especially the grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Leonard, of 56 years; three daughters: Jean Peters of Clive, Iowa, Elaine (Carl) Berry of West Des Moines, Iowa, Karen (Mike) Petersen of Urbandale, Iowa; two sons: Mark (Kristi) Peters of Breda, Iowa and John Peters of Urbandale, Iowa; four grandchildren: Maddi and Karli Peters of Breda and Brad and Colin Peters of Urbandale. She is also survived by step grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Reinhardt of Clive, Mike Berry of San Diego, California and Carey Petersen of Iowa City, Iowa; along with step-great-grandchildren Abby and Gabe Reinhardt of Clive. Norma was preceded in death by her parents John and Esther Huisenga and parents-in-law Herman and Tollie (Meyer) Peters. Memorials in Norma’s name will be directed to Wheatland Presbyterian Church, Breda Community Club, or Hospice. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Behrens, his nurse, Ramona, and all the staff of Powell 3 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines along with Loring Family Hospice for the excellent care. |
