Merlin D. Lamaak

Merlin Dale Lamaak, age 70, of Sac City, formerly of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Park View Care Center in Sac City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 23rd, at the 1st Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake View with Rev. Jess Thomason officiating. Burial will be at the Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 22nd, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View.

Merlin was born on June 21, 1936 in Lake View, the son of Henry and Lena (Palm) Lamaak. Merlin had special needs and lived with his parents in Lake View until 1975, at the time of his Mother’s death, Merlin went to live at Park View Care Center in Sac City. He was a member of the 1st Congregational United Church of Christ in Lake View.

Merlin loved to watch television, especially the weather channel, listen to polka music, was a huge fan of Dollie Parton, was interested in what was going on around him, and enjoyed his bulletin board of all the nurses and friends. He had a good sense of humor and always had a smile and great laugh, and was everybody’s friend at the nursing home.

Survivors include his two brothers: Melvin Lamaak and wife Betty of Branson, MO, and Ronald Lamaak and wife Ann of Sac City; three sisters: Viola Segebart of Denison, IA, Arlene Howard of Cedar Falls, IA, and Darlene Segebart of Parker, CO; 13 nieces; and ten nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Orville Lamaak; brothers-in-law: Russell Howard, Robert Segebart, and Earl Segebart; niece Julie Segebart, and nephew Martin Lamaak.
