Marjorie Denman

Marjorie Lucille Denman, age 88, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, Iowa.

Marjorie was born on June 8, 1918 in Sac City the daughter of Arthur and Viva (Bovey) Summers. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1936 and was married to Clarence “Boyk” Gerken in 1937 until his death in 1962. They had two sons: Gerald and Terry.

She later married Charles Denman in 1972 until his death in 1977. She had one step-daughter, Georgia.

Marjorie was a member of the First Christian Church in Sac City and a past member of the Wa Tan Ye Service Club for many years. She was a devoted, loving parent, grandparent, and friend. She enjoyed her work and meeting people while employed at Steward’s Clothing Store for 20 years. Marjorie was also fond of traveling, dancing, and playing cards with her friends.

Survivors include her son Gerald “Jerry” Gerken and daughter-in-law Maxine of Sac City; granddaughter, Janette Mathison and husband Todd of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and grandson Brent Gerken and wife Tiffany of Chaska, Minnesota and their daughters Kalyn and Holly; her son Terry Gerken and daughter-in-law Janet of Eagan, Minnesota, and two grandsons: Todd Gerken and his son Dalton of Eagan, Minnesota and Ryan Gerken also of Eagan, Minnesota; stepdaughter Georgia Hart and husband Robert and two step-grandsons: William and Brian Hart; one step-granddaughter Debra and husband Brian and step-great-grandson Kenton.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Clarence Gerken and Charles Denman.
