Kenneth L. Mauer, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Sac City, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2006 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 10th at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Visitation will begin one hour (1:00 p.m.) prior to the services. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born on August 11, 1924, rural Wall Lake, the son of Carl and Catherine E. (Werkmeister) Mauer. He was raised in the Lutheran faith, attended country school, and graduated from eighth grade in Sac City. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. On March 7, 1943, Kenneth was united in marriage to Betty J. Matthews in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

Kenneth’s life was his work and his hobby, as owner of K. L. Mauer Construction, he was well known in the community. He lived in Storm Lake for the past 46 years.

Survivors include his many nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty on January 2, 2000; brother Martin Mauer; sisters: Alice Mauer in infancy, Eleanor Wollesen, Mabel Brown, Lucille Minniss, Edna Gerdes, and Irene Lenz.
