Ellen B. Quirk
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 14th, at the United Methodist Church in Lake View with Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, November 13th at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View. Ellen was born on December 19, 1913, in Richland Township north of Odebolt, the daughter of William and Sadie (Blass) Buehler. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt where she was a member until her later years, and at that time transferred her membership to Lake View. Ellen graduated from Odebolt High School. On October 30, 1934, Ellen Buehler was united in marriage to Merle Arch Quirk at the home of her parents in Sac County. Three children were born to this union: Joan, James, and Donald. Merle and Ellen farmed all their lives in Sac County. Ellen moved to Lake View in 1974 to live around Blackhawk Lake. She loved to fish, play cards, go to dances, sew, spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and be with her friends. She had wonderful sense of humor, a zest for life, and lived life to the fullest. Ellen started spending her winters in Mesa in 1978, and spent the last two years in Twilight Acres Nursing Home due to failing health. Ellen was an active member in the Women’s Circle at the United Methodist Church in both Odebolt and Lake View. She enjoyed her many friends and was a member of the Stitch-a-Bit Club, Book Club, and Bridge Club. Ellen will be missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her children: Joan Pagel of Rockwell City, James Quirk and wife Vickie of Wall Lake; 11 grandchildren: Rebecca (Mark) Maffett, Nancy (Tom) McHugh, Patricia (Bob) Subbert, Tamera Pfaffle, Bryan (Lisa) Quirk, Jonathan (Connie) Pagel, Tricia (Joe) McAdoo, Dean (Holly) Quirk, Todd (Beth) Quirk, Tyson (Angela) Quirk, and Jayme Quirk; 26 great-grandchildren; her sister, Kathryn Sutton of Fresno, California; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Merle Quirk; son Donald Quirk; her sisters and brothers: Florence Davidson, Vern Buehler, Etta Morgan, John Buehler, Gladys Nichols, Emmet Buehler, and Aileen Cossey; son-in-law, Daniel Pagel; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Langle Quirk. |
