Delbert Carl VonEhwegen, age 82, of Lake View, Iowa, passed to rest on Monday, July 10, 2006, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, after a long illness.

Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 15th, at Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake with Pastor Roger Carlisle officiating. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

He was born in Sac City, Iowa, on October 16, 1923 the son of Carl and Margaret Ann “Anna” (Booker) VonEhwegen. After attending school in Sac City he joined the Air Corps in 1945 serving during WWII.

Delbert married Eleanor E. Rahn on December 16, 1956, and they resided on the family farm. He spent the rest of his life working the family farm, fishing, traveling with his wife, and enjoying life until moving to the nursing home in Lake View in 1998.

He was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, and a member of the American Legion for over 40 years.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Eleanor; stepdaughter, Twyla Parsley; granddaughter, Ronelle; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Orville VonEhwegen.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Carl and Anna VonEhwegen; brother, Charles; and half-sister, Freida Hiner.
