Arlan Dale Karstens, age 48, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2006 at his mother’s home in Lake View following a lengthy battle with cancer.

There will be no visitation. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View is in charge of arrangements.

Arlan was born on October 6, 1957, in Lake View, the son of Vernice J. and Lavon (Smidt) Karstens. He was baptized on 1957 in Ulmer and confirmed in 1972 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View where he remained a lifetime member. Arlan attended Lake View Grade School and graduated from Lake View-Auburn High School in 1976. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends.

Survivors include his mother, Lavon Karstens of Lake View; daughter, Amanda Karstens of Florida; two brothers: Steven Karstens of Prescott, Arizona, and Verlin Karstens of Dwight, Illinois; two grandchildren: Dakota and Kylee; extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Vernice and sister Karen Karstens in 2003.
