William Lents
William “Bill” R. Lents, age 76, of Sac City, Iowa passed away on Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City. Bill was born on November 1, 1928 in Kewanee, Illinois, the son of Oliver L. Sr. and Renate (Rusch) Lents. He attended Sac City schools, graduating from the Sac City High School in 1946. In 1948, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his country until 1952 attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. On August 15, 1954, Bill was united in marriage to Barbara Joann Rench. To this union two sons were born, Mark and James. The family continued to make their home in Sac City where they participated in the family dry cleaning business, known as Lents Cleaners. Bill was currently a co-manager, with his wife Joann, at several apartments in Sac City, Storm Lake, Lake City, and Ida Grove. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the American Legion, had been a member of the Sac City Fire Department for over 50 years, and a past-president of the Sac City Lion’s Club He enjoyed his many fishing trips. His family was an important part of his life. Left to mourn his passing are is wife, Joann; his sons, Mark of Spokane, Washington and Jim of Sac City, along with his three grandchildren, Dustin, Kale, and Jaimie; and one great granddaughter, Aaliyah all of Spokane. Other survivors include a brother and his wife; Robert and Neida Lents of Sac City; sister and her husband, Maxine and Richard Galloway of Moville and his sister-in-law, Marlene Lents of Sac City. His parents, Oliver and Renate Lents and brother Oliver “Ollie” preceded Bill in death. |
