Vada Oestreich
Vada was born on November 6, 1913, in Calhoun County to Ernest and Caroline (Hoffman) Brown. She was baptized in Anchor, Illinois, on May 31, 1914. She was confirmed on April 1, 1928, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson, Iowa. Vada attended country school and graduated from Manson High School in 1930. Vada met Bill Oestreich at Luther League gatherings in neighboring towns. They were married on November 24, 1935, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson. They lived on a farm south of Lytton for over 50 years. She moved to Lytton in 1991. Vada moved to Park View Care Center, permanently in May of 2001. Survivors include her two daughters: Karen Sund and husband Clifford of Cedar Falls, IA, and Sandra Rabe and husband Ray of Statesville, NC; four grandchildren: David Sund and his wife Penny of Cedar Falls, IA, Diane Sullivan and husband Mark of Ely, IA, Christopher Rabe of Denver, CO, and Cara Rabe of Charlotte, NC; ten great-grandchildren; and extended family members. Vada was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 1989; her parents; grandson Matthew Sund; and three brothers: Roy, Harold, and Maynard Brown. Funeral services for Vada will be held on Monday, September 26th, 10:30 a.m., at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton with burial at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 25th, from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. A Memorial Fund has been established In Vada’s name at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church. |
