Verna Courter

Graveside services for Verna Courter will be held Tuesday, May 3rd, 2:00 p.m., at Oakland Cemetery in Sac City with Rev. Dean McPherson officiating. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is from 12 noon until service time at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Verna Loraine (Stacey) Courter, age 85, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Verna was born on May 2, 1919, in Sac City, the daughter of Robert and Alice (Niles) Stacey. She grew up in the Sac City area and attended Sac City School through the sixth grade. Verna was united in marriage to Russell Courter, Sr., in June of 1950 in Maryville, Missouri.

Verna worked at Palmer Candy Company in Sioux City, Iowa, and at Vilasis in Storm Lake retiring in 1978. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren fishing and camping, and tending her flower garden. The family has many special memories of their fishing adventures.

Survivors include her son, Tom Junior Jorgensen and his wife Brenda; her daughter, Barbra A. Clark; and stepson, Russell Courter and wife Myrt all of Sac City; brother Leo Stacey and wife Maggie of Spokane, WA; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; many step great-grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren; and extended family members.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alice Stacey; husband Russell Courter, Sr., son Ronald Jorgensen; brother Cleo Stacey and wife Gert; sister Alleen (Stacey) Heman Husk; and step-daughter Barb Courter.
