Thelma M. Hatch Thelma M. Hatch, age 74, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2005, at the Loring Care Center in Sac City. Thelma was born on July 30, 1930, the daughter of Glenn and Lillian Mae (Block) Oder, in Sac County, on the family farm. She grew up on the farm and attended country school, graduating from Sac City High School in 1948. On March 31, 1948, Thelma was united in marriage to Roy E. Hatch in Sac City. To this union five children were born: Larry, Laurie, Robin, Linda, and Terry. They made their home in Omaha where Thelma worked for the Omaha World Herald. In 1955 they moved back to Sac City and in 1963 Roy started his own television repair business in Early (Hatch’s Television & Repair) and Thelma kept books for her husband. They retired in 1983. Thelma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. Many of her projects were entered at the Sac County Fair earning her blue ribbons. Thelma was well known at the local auctions since she operated a snack shack since 1970. She also loved working with her horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Sac City Saddle Club. Survivors include her children: Larry Hatch and his wife Joan of Overland Park, KS, Laurie Jones and her husband Larry of Fort Dodge, IA, Linda Hanson and her husband Rodger of Sac City, and Terry Hatch and his wife Julia of Rake IA; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Oder of Osceola, IA; brother-in-law Dale Hatch of Omaha, NE; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Robin Edward Hatch;husband Roy on January 23, 2003, and sister-in-law Loretta Hatch. |
