Ted Blass
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 29th, 5:00-8:00 pm with family present from 6:00-8:00 at the funeral home. Ted M. Blass, age 60, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at his home. Ted was born August 24, 1944, to Martin J. and Wilma H. (Hooper) Blass in Sac City. He lived all his life near Sac City and graduated from Sac City High School in 1963. On May 2, 1965 he married Virginia Hauptman at Lake City. They had two sons: Ty Martin and Matthew Karl. Ted was drafted into the U.S. Army in April of 1968 and discharged April of 1970. He served in Viet Nam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He farmed with his father, Martin, for ten years then worked road construction until he went into his own backhoe business. He enjoyed helping others when they needed extra help. Ted loved his granddaughter, enjoyed restoring old pickups and cars and visiting with friends of like interest. He liked to collect Heston Belt Buckles, mantel and unusual clocks, and watches, had a small hat collection, and he could make rings out of old silver silverware. He was preceded in death by his son, Ty; mother Wilma; brother Joe; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Ruby Hauptman; nephew Brian Blass; niece Jolene Perryman; grandparents on both sides; uncle and aunt Sonny and Eunie Hooper; and all the Blass aunts and uncles. He leaves to mourn his wife Virginia, son Matthew and granddaughter Bailey Blass. Other survivors include his father Martin and brother Tim both of Early, IA, and brother Jim and wife Gloria of Sac City; niece Kellie Highland and family, Gale Blass and family, sister-in-law Kathy Murley, and nephew Tony Harman all of Sac City; niece Kessi Harman and Darin Leighter of Lake View; cousin Sherry Busch and family of Sac City; and many cousins and friends. |
