Dick was born on January 31, 1933, in Sac County, the son of Paul Frank Hubert Martin and Beulah Iola (Marrington) Martin. He grew up in Sac County and graduated from Sac City High School in 1950.

On April 20, 1952, Dick was united in marriage to Bonnie Dyslin in Aurelia, Iowa. This union was blessed with three sons and a daughter. They farmed and raised their family north of Sac City. Dick loved working the land, watching the crops grow, and harvesting the bountiful harvest. He also worked at Don’s Farm Supply in Newell until his retirement in 1998. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. He enjoyed woodworking and was known as a “jack of all trades” because he seemed to be able to fix anything. He enjoyed a good game of cribbage, golfing, playing cards, reading, and going to the movies, but most important to him was his family. He had many fond memories of camping, their Alaskan Cruise, and trip to Oregon.

Dick was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Sac City and served on various committees. He was also a member of the Sac City Lion’s Club.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; three sons: Daniel Martin and wife Kay of Sac City, Bruce Martin of Newell, IA, and Jack Martin and wife Marcia of Sac City; daughter Nancy Luchtel and husband Dexter of Warrensburg, MO; and six grandchildren: Amy (Eric) Groen, Emily Martin, Jay Martin, Colin Martin, Dustin Luchtel, and Amanda Luchtel. Other survivors include his sister Thelma Musselman and husband Bill and brother Robert Martin and wife Eileen all of Sac City; extended family members; and many friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Jackie; and grandson, Kyle.
