Marjorie Ostercamp
Marjorie Ruphine Ostercamp, age 81, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Marjorie R. Weitzel was born December 4, 1923, on the family farm near Wall Lake, Iowa, the daughter of August and Ella (Hess) Weitzel. She moved with her parents to Sac City during her junior year of high school and graduated from the Sac City High School. After graduating she and her twin sister, Mildred, worked in Manning, Iowa. On July 12, 1945, Marje was united in marriage to Leonard Ostercamp, at Santa Ana, California. They were the parents of four children, Janice, Cheri, Robert, and Richard. Leonard and Marjorie operated a dairy-crop farm southwest of Sac City for 29 years. Marje was Leonard’s right hand person, helping with the many chores and she enjoyed naming all of the Holstein cows. During this time she was active in 4-H with her children and assisted them with their projects for the fair. She enjoyed her neighborhood coffees, crafting, cooking, gardening and raising flowers. She especially liked to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Marje and Leonard retired in 1980 and moved into Lake View in the Spring of 1981. Marje is survived by her daughter, Cheri Van Sickle and her husband Michael, of Neola, IA; two sons, Robert Ostercamp and his fiance, Jane Picht, of Chandler, AZ and Richard Ostercamp of Eagle Grove, IA; Seven grandchildren, Robert and Chad Ostercamp and Julie Brown all of Arizona, Marc Van Sickle of Fort Dodge and Carrie Van Sickle of Cedar Falls, Scott and Steven Ostercamp of Eagle Grove; three great grandchildren, Drew and Shea Ostercamp and Dolton Brown all of Arizona. Other survivors include, a brother Wilbur Weitzel of Sac City; sister, Marcella and Glen Smith of Chetek, WI; two sisters-in-law, Edith Bruns of Sac City and Opal Schulte and Lloyd of Lake View; and extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Leonard on July 17, 2003; daughter, Janice Jean Ostercamp; twin sister, Mildred Boje; daughter-in-law, Barbara Ostercamp; and three sisters-in-law, Betty Weitzel, Bessie Ostercamp and Luinda. |
