Lloyd Schulte
Visitation will be Monday, May 23rd, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View with rosary at 4:30 and vigil service at 7:30. Lloyd L. Schulte, age 76, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2005, at the Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tennessee. Lloyd was born on November 25, 1928, to Henry and Anna (Tegels) Schulte in Calhoun County. He graduated from Lake View High School in 1946. He was in the U.S. Army Signal Corp from December 1950 to December 1952. In 1951 he participated in the atomic tests in Nevada. After his discharge from the Army he farmed in the Auburn area till his health made him retire in 1992. He also worked in the maintenance department at St. Anthony’s in Carroll. On September 10, 1952, he married Opal Ostercamp of Sac City at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn. They were blessed with four children: Steven, Randall, John, and Rebecca. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn and a member of the Lake View American Legion Eilert-Auen Post No. 133. He enjoyed neighborhood card parties, reading western novels, watching westerns on television and was a Hawkeye sports fan. He is survived by his wife, Opal, and two sons and one daughter: Randall and his wife Janelle of Lake View, John and his wife Gloria of Clive, IA and Rebecca and her husband Gerard Veilleux of Collierville, TN. Other survivors include his six grandchildren: Jeremy Schulte of Wall Lake, Justin (Nicole) Schulte of Olathe, KS, Kristin Schulte of Ankeny, IA, Anna Schulte of Clive, and her fiance Wes Kisting of Dubuque, IA, Jacob Schulte of Clive, and Jordan Veilleux of Collierville, TN; one great-grandson Payton Schulte of Olathe, KS; a brother Lenus Schulte and wife Mary Ann of Carroll, IA; sisters: Ione Kluver of Sac City, IA, and Donita Schrad and husband Arlo of Lake City, IA; extended family members and many friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; son Steven; brother LeRoy; brothers-in-law: Leonard Ostercamp, Ed Bruns, Truman Hiner, and Harry Kluver; and sisters-in-law: Luinda Hiner and Bessie Ostercamp. |
