Lois Schade

Memorial services for Lois Schade will be held on Saturday, August 27th, 2:30 p.m., at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City with Rev. Charles Bettin officiating.  Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Family and friends may call from 4:00-8-00 on Friday, August 26th, at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Lois Lynn Schade, 69, of Sac City, Iowa, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, northeast of Lake View as the result of an automobile accident.

Lois was born March 23, 1936, in Sac City the daughter of Herbert G. and Marie (Barlow) Zimmerman.  With seventeen brothers and sisters she had many fond memories of growing up in Sac City.  She attended Sac City High School.

She was united in marriage to Marvin Peterson.  To this union six children were born: Kathleen, Marlis, Thomas, Ronald, Patricia, and Timothy.  They lived in Joliet, Illinois, where Lois worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, until Marvin’s death in 1969.  Lois then moved back to Sac City.  In February of 1975, Lois married Harlan Schade.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City.

She helped Harlan on the farm and worked as a Convenience Store Clerk until the fall of 2003.  She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardening, canning, cooking, and camping.  She especially loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many extended family members all of whom she valued so much.    

Survivors include her husband Harlan; her two sons: Tom Peterson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Ron (Margo) Peterson of Sac City; two daughters: Kathy Carter of Temecula, CA, and Patty Hawks (Terry Cook) of Sac City; two stepsons: Kurt Schade of Des Moines, IA and Kollin (Jan) Schade of Hermantown, MN; foster son: Tony (Julie) Hartford of Norfolk, NE; stepdaughter Deb (Mark) Williams of Storm Lake, IA; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  Other survivors include her twelve brothers and sisters: Don (Sharon) Zimmerman of Sac City, Beulah (Wesley) Cole of Sac City, Florence Tatman of Minneapolis, MN, Clifford Zimmerman of Sioux City, IA, Ruth (Jim) Mason of Sac City, Jack (Bonnie) Zimmerman of Union, OR, Mary (Dennis) Strodtman of Joliet, IL, June (Kenneth) Jannings of Carroll, IA, John (Sandy) Zimmerman of Sac City, Earl (Karon) Zimmerman of Sac City, Charles (Joan) Zimmerman of Sac City, and Ted (Alice) Zimmerman of Sac City; many nieces and nephews; extended family members; and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin Peterson; daughter Marlis Peterson; son Timothy Peterson; a sister Pearl Bettin; and brothers: Robert, Jimmy, Kenneth; and William.
