Lee Von Ahn

Memorial services for Lee Von Ahn will be held Saturday, August 27th, 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City with Rev. Charles Bettin officiating.  Military graveside rites will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Auburn, IA, by the V.F.W. Post No. 590, American Legion Cantigny Post No. 195, of Sac City, and by the American Legion Comrade Post No. 284 of Auburn.  Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City is in charge of funeral arrangements.   There will be no visitation. 

Lee Evron Von Ahn, age 79, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at his home.

Lee was born on October 1, 1925, at Lake City, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Leta (Ramsey) Von Ahn.  He was confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Lytton on November 17, 1949.  Lee moved with his parents to Marshalltown, Iowa area where Lee graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1943.  After graduation Lee was inducted into the U.S. Army on August 29, 1944, serving his country in Germany, Belgium, Holland, Italy, and France.  On January 23, 1946, he was given a medical discharge and earned three bronze stars.    

On November 17, 1949, Lee was united in marriage to Beverly Thomsen.  This union was blessed with a son John.  They made their home in Sac City where Lee worked at Noble Manufacturing as a welding foreman and service manager from 1957-1983.

Lee was a loyal and loving husband, father, and grandfather.  Bev and Lee loved to travel and had many wonderful memories of their trips to Hawaii.  He also enjoyed gardening and flying his own airplane.  He was an active member of the V.F.W. and American Legion of Sac City, Disabled American Veterans Association, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bev and son John and his wife Diane of Fenton, Missouri, and their son Kristopher.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis Wagner.
