Kenneth Werkmeister
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, Nov. 15th, from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Kenneth John Werkmeister, age 63, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2005, as the result of a car accident in Woodbury County. Kenny was born on May 28, 1942, the son of Orie J. and Mathilda Ann (Stoelk) Werkmeister in Sac County, Iowa. He was baptized on July 19, 1942, and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City on March 25, 1956, where he remained a lifetime member. Kenny graduated from Sac City High School in 1961. He continued his education at a trade school in Denver, Colorado, specializing in mechanics and also worked at a Ford dealership in Denver. On December 7, 1968, Kenny was united in marriage to Linda Mae Block at the Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born: Kim and Kay. They made their home in Sac City where Kenny operated the Sac Theater and worked for Noble Manufacturing Company until they closed. He then worked for the Sac County Conservation, retiring in 2003. Kenney liked to listen to music, attend garage sales and swap meets, and work on Model T’s and Kit Cars. He had a natural talent as a handy man and loved to tinker with his old cars. His grandchildren will cherish the memories of riding in his Model T’s and being in parades with their grandpa. Kenny was a living cancer survivor for the past three years. Survivors include his wife, Linda; two daughters: Kim Drost and husband Wesley of Wall Lake, IA, and Kay Pickhinke and husband Neil of Early, IA; five grandchildren: Korey, Megan, Kathryn, Mason, and Weston; his sister Sue Ellen Lange and her husband Lester of St. Paul, MN, and brother Leo Werkmeister and his wife Alice of Lake View. He is also survived by his special companion, Daisy. Kenny was preceded in death by a son, Kent; parents Orie and Mathilda Werkmeister, grandparents, a niece and nephew. |
