John Mohr
Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, May 1st, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City with a wake service at 7:00 p.m. John Carl Mohr, age 77, of Early, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. John was born on December 29, 1927, the son of Carl Ludwig and Colletta (Reidmiller) Mohr on the family farm north of Early in Sac County. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early where he remained a life long member. He attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Early High School in 1945. Following graduation he farmed with his father until he was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Merton V. Hair American Legion Post No. 325 of Early. On December 27, 1956, John was united in marriage to Rosemary Meyers at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake. They were blessed with five children: Tim, Jean, Martin, Paula, and Ann. John was a farmer. He worked on the farm his entire life except for the time spent in Korea, tending the crops, taking care of the cattle (his hobby), and teaching his children and grandchildren all about the farm life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed by his wife, Rosemary; son Tim Mohr and his wife Ann of Early and their children, Abby, Michael, and Emily; his daughters: Dr. Jean Mohr of Spirit Lake, IA, and Paula Wallerstedt and her husband Bryan of Sac City, IA, and their children Clay, Olivia, and Sophie; his sisters: Lois (Vincent) Katch of Des Moines, IA, Elayne (Vern) Reiman of Carroll, IA, and Mary Margaret (Duane) Wachter of Hinton, IA; extended family members and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Ann; son Martin, and brother Kenneth Mohr. |
