Funeral services for Helen Staton will be held on Tuesday, October 18th, 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Sac City with Reverend Sharla Hulsey officiating. Burial will be at the Cory Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, October 17th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City.

Helen Ella Staton, age 79, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2005, at her home in Sac City. Helen was born November 1, 1925, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, the daughter of Peter B. and Mary Louise (Cohrt) Nielsen. She grew up in Nebraska and Iowa attending school through eighth grade in Iowa. She was united in marriage to Lee Manska Staton in Sac City. To this union was born three children: Jerry, Lisa, and Julie.

Helen was a member of the First Christian Church in Sac City. She cleaned homes and businesses in Sac City and worked at Priebe’s Egg Plant.

Survivors include her son Jerry Staton and wife Cathy of Sac City; daughter Lisa Fogarty and husband Thomas of Des Moines, IA; eight grandchildren: Robbie Staton, Eric Webberson, Deena Tauber, Heather Richards, Damon Staton, Tamara Fogarty, Timothy Fogarty, and Hannah Fogarty; two great-grandchildren: Stephanie Tauber and Micah Wood; three brothers: Lowel Nielsen and wife Neomi of Moville, IA, Ervin Nielsen and wife Rose of Early, IA, and Marvin Nielsen of Odebolt, IA; a sister LaVern Werner of Lakefield, MN; and many extended family members.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lee M. Staton on March 21, 2002; daughter Julie Staton; her brothers: Norman, Louis, Gilbert, and Clarence; and sisters: Betty Nielsen and Irene Hummel.
