Helen Virginia Kruckenberg, age 83, of Lytton, Iowa died in the Hospice Unit of the Loring Hospital in Sac City, on Tuesday, December 6, 2005. Her courageous battle with cancer could not overshadow living life to its fullest.

Helen was born October 2, 1922 in Newell, Iowa, to John and Ila (Stanley) Minnmann. She was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel St. John Lutheran Church, Lytton, Iowa and has remained a constant member in faith.

Helen graduated from Newell High School in 1940 and after graduation met and married Delmor Kruckenberg on October 10, 1940. She and Delmor resided on a farm outside of Lytton. In 1972 they moved to their home on Maple Avenue in Lytton. She assisted her husband in supporting their six children by helping on the farm, candling eggs, working at the Lytton Creamery, Byers Nursing Home, Jerry’s Super Value in the Deli, and in her later years cooking for the Rockwell City-Lytton School system as assistant and head cook.

Her many hobbies of camping, fishing, cooking (famous for her wonderful potato salad), crocheting, handicrafts, and word puzzles helped her pass the time between visits by/and to spoil her many grandchildren. They will cherish the memories of Sunday coffee time, gathering around the table telling stories and the laughter. God bless grandchildren!

Six children: Shiela Redenbaugh and husband William of Greenfield, Ohio, Terry Kruckenberg and wife Alice of Sac City, Karla Dettman and husband Marlin of Lytton, Virginia Hillmer and husband Arlyn of Lytton, Keith Kruckenberg and wife Lynn of Salem, Illinois, and Lisa Davlin and husband John of Shreveport, Louisiana; ninteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Lillian Tegals of Story City, IA, and Wilda Johnson and husband Russell of Clinton, MO; and brother-in-law William Nelson of Storm Lake, IA, survive her.
