Harold Boney

Funeral Services for Harold Boney, 90, of Lake View will be 1:30 P.M., Saturday, at the Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View with Rev. Rick Johnston officiating. Burial will be in the Odebolt Cemetery. Friends may call at the Farber & Otteman Funeal Home in Lake View after 4:00 P.M. on Friday with the family present from 5 to 7.

Harold Eugene Boney, son of Harry and Minnie (Tiffin) Boney, was born January 21, 1915 at St. James, Minnesota. His family moved to Iowa in 1918. He graduated from Lytton High School in 1932. After attending college at Iowa State, he engaged in farming. He married Ruth Dannenberg Irwin on May 7, 1942. They farmed at Sac City and Bode before moving to the Dannenberg family farm at Odebolt in 1958. In 1983, they retired and moved to Lake View.

Mr. Boney was an active member of the United Methodist Church where he and Ruth served as Senior MYF counselors for seven years as well as worked at youth camps for six years. He was president of the Methodist Men, Chairman of the Administrative Board and Lay Leader as well as serving in other church offices.

He was a member of Wheeler Lodge No. 398, A.F. and A.M. In addition, he enjoyed his participation in the Lion’s Club at Lake View and the Sac County Golf and Country Club. He was active in many farm organizations and served a term on the Federal Home Administrative Board and was a director of the Sac Co. REC for ten years, serving as its president for six years. He was a director of the Farmer’s Cooperative Elevator for ten years, also serving as president for six years.

Harold enjoyed playing all kinds of sports. As a young man, he played semi-pro baseball and later in life, he was often found playing golf. Harold also enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, camping and wintering in Texas, Florida and Arizona.

His survivors include his wife, Ruth, daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Thomas Arrigo of Barrington, Illinois and Cheryl and Steve Soelberg of Georgetown, Texas. Five grandchildren – Thomas and Timothy Arrigo and David, Paul and Anne Getter; two great-grandchildren – Evan and Bryce Getter; one brother, Maurice of Johnstown, Colorado and one sister Loretta and husband, Joe Conley, of Storm Lake; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Raasch of Odebolt and Mavis Dannenberg of Atlantic He also leaves nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother-in-law Donald Lewis and a nephew Rex Lewis; his wife’s parents, Edward and Catherine Dannenberg; brothers-in-law Willard Linden, Robert Dannenberg, Elwin Raasch, Almer Noyd; and sisters-in-law Lilly Dannenberg, Lois Linden, Helen Noyd, and Peggy Boney.
