Elvin Remmick, Sr. Funeral services for Elvin Remmick will be held Tuesday, March 29th, 2:00 p.m., at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with Pastor James Travis officiating. Burial will be at the Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is Monday, March 28th, 6:00-8:00 pm and the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View. Elvin Remmick, Sr., age 89, of Lake View passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View. Elvin was born on June 26, 1915, the son of Jacob and Magdelin (Fischer) Remmick at Streeter, ND. He attended country school through the eighth grade and was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View. On October 29, 1938, Elvin and Adalian M. Milbrett were united in marriage at the Lutheran Church in Olivia, Minnesota. They were blessed with four sons: Elvin A., Jr., Arlen, Daryle and LeRoy. At the age of eighteen, Elvin went to work at CCC Corps. On May 1, 1939 he first started working for Hanson Silo Company at Lake Lillian, MN. In 1942 they moved to Portland, Oregon, where he worked in the Kieser Shipyard. They moved back to Minnesota in 1944 and farmed near Willmar until 1948, when he went back to work for Hanson Silo Company where he was plant foreman, moving to Lake View in 1955. He retired from Hanson Silo in 1988. Elvin was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved fishing, dancing and woodworking. Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Adalian M. Remmick of Lake View; his two sons: Elvin A. “Sonny” Remmick and his wife Leanne of Cushing, IA, and Arlen Remmick and his wife Mary of Fort Worth, TX; twelve grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; his brothers: Ervin Remmick of Minneapolis, MN, and Leslie of Sandy, OR; four sisters: Irene Weston of Wisconsin; Orlean Timmens of Washington, Eugena Wolf of Oregon, and Alma Pigg of California; and many extended family members. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: George, Edward, Arnie, and Rhinhart; three sisters: Molly, Minnie, and Martha; and two sons: Daryle and LeRoy. |
