Don was born on August 12, 1923, the son of Frank and Amelia C. (Breuker) Wolf, near Lytton, Iowa. He lived in Knoke, Iowa, Rockport, Missouri, and then returned to the Lytton area. He worked for Herman Bartels while finishing high school and graduated from Lytton High School in 1943. He was a successful athlete and won many ribbons in track events.

He moved to Sac City and began his life’s work at Noble Manufacturing. On June 2, 1946, Don was united in marriage to Ethel L. Byers in Sac City. Don was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a volunteer fireman, and a member of the Sac City Rifle Club. He will be remembered for his love of all sports, playing on the baseball and fast pitch softball team for many years, bowling, and his love of golf. One of his greatest achievements and fondest memories was when he got a hole in one at the Sac Country Club, which just happens to be across the street from where he lived.
