Delores Gerdes

Funeral services for Delores Gerdes will be held Monday, May 2nd, 2:00 p.m. at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake with Larry Mills officiating. Burial will be at the Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1st, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake.

Delores Mae Gerdes, age 73, of Lake View, Iowa, passed away at Loring Hospital in Sac City on Friday April 29, 2005.

Delores Mae Poynter was born on December 6, 1931, in Langdon, Iowa, to Theodore and Hazel (Tinkham) Poynter. She married Arnold John Gerdes on March 11, 1949. Delores and Arnold made their home in Lake View Iowa. He passed away on April 30, 1985.

Delores worked at the Standard Gas Station in Lake View from 1950-56, General Electric Company in Carroll from 1977-86, and as a C.N.A. at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake from 1990-97. She enjoyed playing musical instruments, cards, cooking, baking, reading, fishing, and gardening. Her most memorable moments were spent in the company of her family and friends. Delores will be remembered for her musical talents, homemade bread that she gave as gifts, and unconditional love for family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters: Sheryl Gerdes of Lake View, IA, Mary Jo Bogue and her husband Gary of Carroll, IA, and Brenda Snyder and her husband David of Lake View, IA. She also leaves her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jamie Uren, Sarah Bogue and daughter Sabrina Koopman, Billy Bogue, Justin and Timothy Snyder, Ann and Jason Terlisner and daughter Kayla, and Ramie Uren. Other survivors include her brothers: Gary Poynter of Staples, MN, Marvin Poynter, Ronald (Eileen) Poynter of Duluth, MN, and Wesley (Sharon) Poynter of Champlin, MN; her sister Wanda Cestnik of Motley, MN; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Hazel Poynter; husband Arnold Pete Gerdes; infant son John Gerdes; son Shane Gerdes; sister Sharon Poynter; and brother Darrell Poynter.
