Raymond H. Raasch

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 15, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at the Presbyterian Church in Odebolt with Reverend Charles Bulger officiating. Bells will be played by Janice Rupert. Pallbearers include all of Raymond's grandchildren: Mark, Greg, Scott, Jeff, Matt, Marla, and Megan Raasch. Burial will be at the Odebolt Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt.

Raymond H. Raasch, age 87, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Raymond was born on January 21, 1917, the son of Irvin and Elizabeth (Konradi) Raasch, on the family farm northeast of Odebolt, where he lived all his life, until he moved to Odebolt in February of 2002. He attended country school near Odebolt.

On January 3, 1942, Raymond was united in marriage to Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Shirk in Des Moines, Iowa. They were the parents of two sons: Curtis and Bruce.

Ray loved the farm life. He continued to help on the farm until moving into Odebolt in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and working in his garden.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Odebolt and served as trustee, ruling elder, and ushered.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Betty; his two sons: Curtis (Carol) Raasch and Bruce (Polly) Raasch, all of Odebolt; seven grandchildren: Mark (Cyndi) Raasch of Odebolt, Greg (Melissa) Raasch of Lake View; Scott Raasch of Odebolt, Jeff (Laurel) Raasch of Ames, Matt Raasch of Odebolt; Marla Raasch of Charter Oak, and Megan Raasch of Carroll; a sister-in-law, Hazel Raasch of Sioux City; and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Willard; sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy (Emmett) Buehler, and Marjorie (Raymond) Timmerman; and a granddaughter, Michelle Marie Raasch.
